Open Position: Program and Communications Associate

The Disability & Philanthropy Forum is an emerging philanthropy-serving organization created by the Presidents’ Council on Disability Inclusion in Philanthropy. Central to the Forum’s mission is centering the perspectives of disabled people while engaging the philanthropic sector in a collective learning journey about disability that moves toward a more equitable, inclusive future for all.

The Disability & Philanthropy Forum is fiscally sponsored by the Proteus Fund who partners with foundations, advocates, and individual donors to advance democracy, human rights, and peace.

The Opportunity

The Program and Communications Associate for the Disability & Philanthropy Forum will be an integral part of our small team and committed to furthering our overall mission of working toward a disability-inclusive philanthropic sector.  The associate reports to the Program and Communications Director and supports team members with program, communications, and administrative duties. This is a full-time (40-hour per week) remote position. Applicants must be based in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Program and Communications Director on programmatic and communications work. This includes assisting with the implementation of the Disability & Philanthropy learning series and helping to identify opportunities to expand programming.
  • Work with the team to provide logistical support for large and small meetings, convenings, and events. This work includes staffing Zoom meetings, monitoring registrations, and serving as a liaison with speakers, technical service providers, and accommodations consultants.
  • Partner with the Digital Content and Community Manager to support the Disability & Philanthropy Forum website, newsletters, social media, listservs, and other digital strategies to deepen engagement with Forum members.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Executive Director and the Program and Communications Director. This work includes scheduling, processing invoices, drafting meeting agendas, preparing notes, reviewing meeting transcripts, ensuring accessibility of documents, proofreading materials, and maintaining existing spreadsheets and new constituent relationship management system.

Candidate Profile

The Program and Communications Associate will work to support the team in engaging the philanthropic sector in a collective learning journey about disability that moves toward a more equitable, inclusive future for all. Additional requirements include:

  • Commitment to the mission and values of a progressive disability inclusion organization
  • Knowledge of disability inclusion, rights, and justice (personal experience preferred)
  • Writing, editing, and notetaking skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Event and meeting management experience
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills using email, phone, and texting.
  • Proficient in:
    • WordPress, Mailchimp, social media channels (posting and advertising), Sprout Social, photo editing tools (e.g. PicMonkey or Canva), Google Analytics, Google Ads, G Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Microsoft Office applications including Word and Powerpoint
    • Experienced in or committed to learn accessibility features for all programs 
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Constituent Relationship Management system (e.g. Salesforce, CiviCRM)
    • SurveyMonkey
    • Zoom

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $52,000 – $62,000 per year.
