Workshop – Disability Inclusion Fundamentals: A Beginner’s Session
Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2024
Time: 1:00 – 3:00 PM ET

What does it mean to create a truly disability inclusive workplace? What barriers to accessibility may inherently exist in an organizational structure? Why is instituting disability education in diversity, equity, and inclusion training important? As organizations seek to incorporate disability inclusion into their everyday practice, staff training and education on disability is essential, yet often overlooked. This highly interactive introductory workshop, open to the public as a sample of our member workshop series, uses media, small and large group discussion, and breakout room activities to engage participants in a learning journey on disability inclusion. The session is designed to be useful for beginners as well as those who are further along in their understanding of disability inclusion.
We will cover key topics including:
- The medical and social models of disability
- Moving beyond legal expectations
- Creating a disability-inclusive culture
This workshop is capped at 50 attendees to allow for the interactive, hands-on format. Registration has closed, as the event has reached capacity.
